If you listen to Ice Cube, than you probably heard that line from one of his rap songs.

On average, about 118 million Americans go to Church every Sunday. I highly doubt the reason a majority of them go to Church is because they are scared. Well maybe if they ended up watching a horror movie the night before…

Have you ever wondered why Church settings are so common in Horror movies? I’ve always been perplexed by this. I get the haunted houses, hospitals, psychiatric wards etc, but never been a fan of Church settings. I don’t know…maybe it’s just personal preference.

It’s probably because I’ve always been creeped out by exorcism films. There’s just something real to those premises that I can see happening in real life.

In most recent years the horror film, “The Last Exorcism” came out. For those who don’t know it has Church settings and themes. As usual with horror movies, the critics bombed the film, but that didn’t stop the film grossing $62 million worldwide from its $1.8 million budget.

This is the exact reason why I am in the Horror genre, and always preach to other writers and filmmakers to make Horror films. Especially if you are wanting to get your first option or produced credit, Horror is the way to go.

Horror films are the most low-budget films to produce and generate the best ROI of your film.
